Evernote Bullet Journal

I chose an eventful week to come back to the blog, right? šŸ˜› I’ve been a little discouraged and didn’t feel like coming back, but the results of the US elections got me into the most wonderful of moods, so here I am!

Today’s post is rather different. It’s not about fashion or beauty but organization. You know I LOVE organizing, tagging and tidying up (#moonandascendantinVirgo thank you very much), so it’s not a surprise I’ve been drawn into the Bullet Journal method. In fact, I have writtenabout itmany times in my poor attempt to make one, but I never made it past 3 months.

The truth is that no matter how much I love paper notebooks, I just can’t write in them because there’s no way of rearranging the pages the way I want to, which is what the bullet journal is all about.

  • Thus, many bullet journal apps for Android and iOS platforms have been developed recently. Considering the pros and cons, we can find that the positive aspect of using bullet journal apps overweight negative that can appear in the inconvenience of using a small screen of mobile for activity planning.
  • Keeping my Bullet Journal in OneNote captures the best of analog and digital. I have the artistic and creative freedom to make even basic to-do lists as beautiful or as plain as I want, and I can easily access my Bullet Journal anywhere I have access to the internet. • Evernote is rapidly becoming a staple part of our modern workflows. From 2009 to 2010, Evernote jumped from 2 million users to 6 million. Impressive, right? Not compared to its 2017 figures. Evernote now boasts over 200 million users and over 5 billion notes created. Evernote has become a real player in the world of cloud technologies.

Don’t hate me! But I truly can’t deal with that, it makes me feel SUPER anxious. I’m always changing, therefore I don’t like keeping things the same way all the time, so I need to shake things up a little every couple weeks. This is why I have so many unfinished bullet journals laying around in the house.

No matter how much I tried, I always went back to digital. For a very long time I used Google Calendar + Evernote, until Notion showed up in my life.

Evernote

Notion is free for personal use and my only organization tool at the moment.

(… Well… I still can’t let go of Google Calendar, but that’s another story šŸ˜›).

Notion can be used both in its desktop or executable version on your computer, and it’s also available for Android and iOS. It offers THOUSANDS of official + user created templates which are shared through multiple community groups (here is a list of places where people share their spreads and talk about the app).

The most interesting feature of the app is how versatile it is. You can build columns, work with separators & headings, link to other pages within your Notion notebook, and there’s also different views available (boards, gallery, table, etcĆ©tera).

I’ve got to admit the app has a learning curve that can be a bit intimidating at first. But once you get over it (it’s totally worth it, I assure you) you won’t regret the switch to Notion — if you are like me and prefer to have control over how you build and edit your journal.

How I built my Bullet Journal with Notion

Priority number one for me was to make my BuJo as pretty as I could, as ridiculous as it sounds šŸ˜‚ I mean, I need to be motivated to look at it every day! I used pictures I previously saved to my Pinterest boards related to the things I like, such as reading, organization, etc.

INDEX: First thing in sight is my ā€œlife wikiā€ which is the summary of everything that my BuJo contains, such as a link to my content creator BuJo.

Using Evernote As A Journal

The first link is always the on-going month.

Revisiones Anuales are my annual reviews which will probably change very soon, because I like making reviews every 3 months to check on my progress towards my annual goals.

Personal notes is for every note that will need sorting out later or doesn’t have a specific spread it belongs to.

Wishlist contains all the material things I want to buy.

Goals is related to my long-term dreams.

Travel Planner is a Notion template I found really interesting for planning trips. I haven’t used it yet, but I hope I will very soon!

And, finally, the link to my Content Creator BuJo which contains everything related to this blog and my YouTube channel.

Monthly Spread

Bullet

The first thing I complete in my monthly spread is the general To-Do List, where I write down everything I want to have done in the month. This is really important for me because I don’t plan more than a week in advance.

I’ve also got a ā€œMonthly Tasksā€ column, but I still have to work on that one. Hopefully I’ll have it done by December!

Under these columns, I have the ā€œHabit Trackerā€, and yes… before you ask me, I’m not doing really well this month šŸ˜‚

My weekly spread is the most important part for me. By the end of it I have an extra column where I write the tasks that are due new week, all taken from the general To-Do list from above.

Lastly, I’ve got my calendar or future log, where I write down appointments, birthdays, special dates, etcĆ©tera.

Content Creator BuJo

Using Evernote For Bullet Journaling

I divided my content creator BuJo between ā€œBLOGGINGā€ and ā€œYOUTUBEā€ as these are the two platforms I invest most of my time into (for Instagram I use Planoly!).

In both cases I have brain dumps (for ideas) which are organized by category (to start, in progress, done) and tagged with the month where I plan to upload said content. I copy all this info into my content calendar once I’ve figured out the month’s content (YouTube in red, this blog in lilac).
